The World Mobile Congress took place in March 2015 and brought us the latest in mobile smartwatches and smartphones. Here are our best picks.
Samsung
Samsung has unveiled the two new stars in its Galaxy: the Galaxy S6 and the Galaxy S6 Edge. Going upscale, the new models are built using metal, and the Edge’s display extends to wrap around both sides They’ll be available on April 20 in 22 countries and will come in 32GB, 64GB and 128GB versions.
The Edge’s edges can glow for notifications so you can see them when it’s face down, and touching the heart-rate sensor on the back can send out an auto-reply.
The company claims extra toughness, thanks to Gorilla Glass 4 and “stronger” metals than those used in other phones. The hardware has a 64-bit architecture built using 14nm technology, DDR4 RAM and a combination of new flash memory technologies for better performance and power efficiency. It incorporates a new 5.1-inch, 577 ppi AMOLED display. Plus, the Gear VR has been reworked for the S6 models.
Huawei
Huawei announced a new premium Android Wear watch at Mobile World Congress in Barcelona. The Huawei Watch is the first Android Wear watch that features a scratch-proof sapphire crystal display. The company’s first smartwatch is one of the best looking on the market, with its stainless steel body and mesh (or leather) strap. The watch has a 1.4-inch circular display with a 400×400- pixel resolution, which measures to around 286 pixels per inch, and is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon processor, 512MB of RAM and 4GB of internal storage. Underneath there is a heart-rate sensor for all-day tracking.
The Huawei Watch can display personalized Google Now cards and notifications such as text messages, emails and calls from your smartphone right on your wrist. Huawei has included over 40 customizable watch faces, including a dial that shows lunar phases, the weather and notifications in a traditional watch design.

Along with the heart-rate monitor, the watch uses a 6-axis motion sensor and barometer to track your steps, distance and calories burned. It can also automatically detect and track when a user is walking, running, biking, hiking or sleeping.
The Huawei Watch will be available in more than 20 countries including the US, UK and Australia.

In addition to a new two-tone design — but still all metal with dual front speakers — the new hardware incorporates a Qualcomm Snapdragon 810, a back cam- era with a 20-megapixel BSI sensor and sapphire glass, a front camera with 2-micron pixels and an f2 lens, and Boom-Sound audio with All-Play support. It will be available in March in four colors: silver, pink, gray and gold.
